“Welcome to our wonderful house in Spain”

We had been toying with the idea of buying a house overseas for sometime. Choosing the country was not difficult for us – we just love Spain. 

  • It is so easy to get to from the UK – we live in Cramlington, Northumberland which is getting on for the Scottish border – we can easily fly to Alicante from Newcastle which takes the pain out of travel.

  • Spain cannot be beaten for glorious weather, lovely wine and delicious food. Not to mention the wonderful scenery if you are prepared to get off the beaten track a little.

  • It is affordable – not only the property prices but also the extras – the price of fuel, water etc – it all adds up!

 So then we had to choose a town to become our home from home. To be honest we had been to Calpe a few times before and had such wonderful times there that it seemed such an obvious choice for us.

 We have read so many horror stories about people buying abroad and losing their money that we were absolutely determined to use a British Developer. Taylor Wimpey de España fitted the bill perfectly. They have years and years of experience of building luxury properties in Spain with the added bonus of being owned by the British builder – Taylor Wimpey. We were absolutely sure that we could not go wrong.

 We went to look at the development in Calpesol initially but there was not a property available with a sea view – this was very important to us so the sales person showed us the plans for a development which was due to start soon. This meant we bought the property off plan but it did mean we could choose the exact location and specify some of the internal fittings.

 There were some delays during the build stages – but none of them were down to Taylor Wimpey de España. To be honest we could not fault them. They kept us informed all the time during the construction and the aftersales service has been second to none. Our sales agent spoke really good English so there was never any confusion.

 The buying process was very simple and all through the process. We had an English/Spanish lawyer so we felt comfortable with everything and are delighted with the result.

 We purchased a three story town house with a sun terrace on the roof and a large basement in the Montesol development. We have three good sized bedrooms, one with en suite & a further bathroom. The living area is large – it needs to be when all the family arrive for a visit! The property also comes with a patio area in front of the house and a terrace outside the lounge windows. 

 Our children & grandchildren visit regularly as do other family & friends. It is very often that we choose to drive south and travel via ferry between Portsmouth & Bilbao. We tend to spend 2months in the UK and 2 months in Montesol alternately so it is worth the time travelling this way.

 The uninterrupted view over the bay is stunning and there is not a day that goes past that we are not thrilled with our decision to buy. In fact we should have bought years ago!
